The Museum

About

In 2003, the old Station Master’s residence was beautifully restored by State Rail Heritage, bringing back its authentic 1930s exterior and original colour scheme. Today, this charming building serves as our reception centre, welcoming visitors and providing facilities for our members. It also houses a fascinating display of railway memorabilia from the steam and diesel eras. Among the standout pieces are a pair of NSWGR standard block telegraph instruments and large and miniature electric staff instruments once used for training at the Newcastle Railway Institute.

Our museum site also features one of the few remaining standard NSWGR Goods Sheds on the North Coast Line, a true testament to the rich history of railway operations in the region.

You can find the Museum located within the old Paterson Goods Yard, where we store and meticulously maintain our heritage-listed rail motors and rolling stock. For road access and entrance, head to 5 Webbers Creek Road, Paterson. Visitor parking is conveniently available at the corner of Prince and Church Streets.
