The Rail Motor Society can provide a train to meet your specific requirements. You can choose from one of our packaged offerings or put together your own tour program. The Society can provide everything from basic train hire to a fully packaged tour offering. The Society’s Tours Officer can assist you to put your own package together with advice on routes, travel times, track work and stopping places.

The Society’s trains can provide special tours for small groups using our 400 Class Rail Motor. The 400 Class seats up to 18 passengers and is ideal for inspection tours or private business meetings. Medium sized groups up to 70 can be accommodated by two of our 1923 vintage 42-Foot Rail Motors, while larger groups up to 105 can utilise our 620 Class two-car diesel rail car (92 seats) or three CPH Rail Motors (105 seats). All of these tours can be fully tailored to suit your particular requirements including on-board catering.

Due to lead times required for the issue of timetables by the network owners, the Society requires at least 8-10 weeks notice (the longer notice the better) to put a tour together.

The Rail Motor Society can also provide its rolling stock for specialist rail oriented activities such a signal sighting surveys, track and infrastructure inspections and radio and other equipment testing. We assign special crews with extensive rail backgrounds and an in-depth knowledge of the routes and infrastructure for these operations to enhance the value of the trip for our clients.
